Liberal candidate caroline currie seat of whitlam resigns from leadership
Former cabinet minister Caroline Currie announced she is resigning as an Independent MLA, effective Jan 1.

“With the election of new MLAs scheduled for mid-November I believe my leadership of the party is in jeopardy and that I need to make the best decision for my family and myself and for my constituents,” Ms Currie said in a statement.
She added that Ms Currie is resigning with the recommendation of party executive, as this will ensure the MLAs are aligned to the party’s platform, but she does not feel she has a responsibility or authority to make the decision herself.
“I have always maintained my independence from my party, and in the event of the next election, the decision remains completely with the party executive on which of us m성남안마ay lead the party and govern in accordance with the agenda that their current members and voters value,” she sai세종안마d.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this region and will be extremely disappointed to lose my seat in next month’s byelections and would certainly like to encourage the party and our supporters to vote against any candidate they are not comfortable with.”
Ms Currie said that she plans to remain involved in the Young Greens party, though will not be returning to parliament, if she wins the seat.
